The electric piano can reproduce the sound of a grand or upright piano, either through built-in speakers or headphones, so you can play in peace and quiet without disturbing your neighbors. The classic electric piano is a digital instrument that uses sampled piano and organ sounds. It's also known as an electric piano, electric piano or digital piano, but all names refer to the same type of keyboard instrument, such as a music keyboard.
There is a wide variation in the size and built-in features of the different models, making it an instrument that caters to both beginners and advanced classical piano players. This ranges from mini digital pianos without pedals to 88-key electric pianos with three pedals. Don't forget the accessories, such as a piano bench or music stand
As well as being a stylish musical instrument, it's also a piece of furniture that can fit perfectly in your living room or music room.
Electric pianos with or without weighted keys
Most people who have played an acoustic piano choose to buy an electric piano with weighted keys. This gives a more realistic feel of playing a "real" piano and makes it easier to immerse yourself in the music you're playing - especially if it's a piece of classical music. The leading brands on the market, such as Yamaha and Roland, have put a lot of resources into developing the most realistic piano sounds and touch sensitivity possible, so the practical benefits of a digital piano don't compromise the quality of the musical experience.
Weighted keys are a definite advantage if you want to play classical music and melodic songs in general. On the other hand, if you're more experimental and focus on electronic music, it can be an advantage to choose an electric piano with non-weighted keys. If that's your interest, an keyboard is also an obvious musical instrument to invest in.
The sound of digital pianos
The tones and sounds of an electronic or digital piano are usually samples from acoustic instruments. This is true for products from Yamaha, while the sounds in a Roland instrument are typically a mix of computer-generated sounds and samples. All sounds are good, but which is best is a matter of taste. Where there can be a significant difference is in the quality of the built-in speakers, which will be better the higher you go up in price. Conversely, if you mainly play with a good pair of headphones or have a good pair of external speakers you can plug in, there won't be much of a difference.
