Therefore, passive speakers must always be connected to an external amplifier in order to produce sound.
What does a passive speaker consist of?
Passive speakers are made of either a wooden or plastic cabinet. Inside the cabinet are the drivers and a passive crossover consisting of components such as coils and capacitors that ensure that the right frequency ranges end up in the right drivers. For example, a tweeter needs only the high frequency signals and a woofer only the low frequencies to sound right.
Why choose passive speakers?
A passive PA system has more flexibility in terms of "interchangeable" parts. If you are not satisfied with the amplifier's performance, you have the option to optimize it, which is not the case with an active PA system.
